2026 Trends
A month into the new year, the Kilograph team has taken time to reflect on how our business has evolved over the past twelve months and where it’s headed next.
From the importance of storytelling, to the need for community, we’re entering this year with intention and vision. AI makes us smarter and faster, but humanity is still paramount.
We’d love to hear how your business is evolving and how we can support you in the year ahead.

Authentic Sense of Place > Unbranded
In 2026, breathing new life into older buildings, particularly in underutilized and historic areas, will continue to accelerate. In cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, tenants are looking for properties with an authentic sense of place. We’re seeing more developers leaning in and emphasizing an older building’s existing character as an asset. Using creative branded moments like bold murals and impactful signage can be a way to leverage the unique qualities of these properties and stand out among the crowd.

Human Imperfection > AI
As AI becomes more deeply embedded in everyday life, brands will lean into humanizing design signals to counterbalance automation. Personality and authenticity will replace perfect aesthetics. Human centered content will become more and more key, making brands and creators feel more approachable and real. Imperfection and warmth become quiet trust markers in an AI-saturated landscape.

Micro Storytelling > Long Form Content
Micro Storytelling is a content strategy that distills big ideas into short, high-impact moments designed for how people consume media today. Built for fast attention, mobile-first viewing, and social platforms, it delivers clear narratives that audiences can absorb quickly and remember. Developers and architects can apply micro storytelling across interactive websites, animations, and short-form video to translate complex concepts into accessible, compelling communications. The result is content that feels easy to engage with, timely and relatable.

AI as Partner > AI as Replacement
Using AI tools thoughtfully and ethically while continuing to grow as professionals and as people is how we stay valuable and creative. At Kilograph, we are using AI increasingly for the more mechanical parts of our work: to speed up research, to test narrative ideas early, to support light administrative tasks, and to iterate faster. In visualization it allows us to explore more futures sooner. What AI gives back to us and our clients is time. Time to think and work together. Time to listen. Time for nuance, context, and the important conversations that shape good collaborative work.

Community > Remote
In today’s work from home and remote environment, the desire to belong to a community has never been stronger. Artists and creators are seeking spaces where they can connect, exchange ideas, collaborate, and contribute to the future of the industry together.
I am launching a new event for the archviz and visualization community designed to bring artists closer, foster dialogue, and celebrate shared vision and innovation, the SODA Festival, sponsored by Kilograph. In a time where much of our work is done in isolation, community becomes more than networking, it’s a source of inspiration, learning, and collective growth. Creativity thrives when people come together.

Interactive Walkthroughs > Static Images
Interactive property walkthroughs are increasingly popular with our clients. These experiences are immersive, engaging and go beyond what static images can convey. Tools like Unreal Engine or Unity 3D are also being used for real-time client feedback and immersive presentations.

AI Integration in Animation > Experimental Phase
AI driven workflows are beginning to push CG animation into its next phase, mirroring the leap we’ve already seen in still imagery. As AI becomes more deeply integrated into render engines and animation pipelines, studios are using it to upscale quality, increase complexity, and unlock richer, more ambitious animations that were previously out of reach.
Full Project Journey > Final Delivery
The importance of the visualization as a communication tool, guiding clients through every phase, from initial concept development to the final delivery, building trust, and better decision making along the full process as opposed to a final delivery.
This connection is now strengthened by AI when used as a conversational tool, it allows for faster iterations, turning feedback into an immediate and collaborative dialogue.
Visualization will continue to function as a communication and decision-making tool throughout the entire project lifecycle, from early concept to final delivery, building trust and clarity, a shift that will only accelerate with the integration of AI tools.
